Closed until we have power!

Well, the ice storm that hit Boone, NC has just wreaked havoc for most of the county. At last count, 44% of the county is without power…including the Bald Guy Brew International Head-Quarters. Not sure when we will be operational, especially since a smaller snow storm is due to hit on Sunday.

If you order coffee, it might be delayed, but I’ll get to it when I can. In the mean time, we hope that ya’ll have a wonderful holiday!

Pancakes, BGB, and a great cause to do good!

This coming Saturday (12-12-09) between 7:30 to 11:30 am, the Watauga Education Foundation will be holding a pancake breakfast and raffle to provide classroom grants for creative initiatives that fall outside the state and local budgets, funds continuing education for teachers, funds Battle of the Books, produces Shooting Stars and is bringing Imagination Library—a program to get books into children’s hands even before they can read—for Watauga County Schools.

From the beginning we (Bald Guy and Mrs. Bald Guy) have always found a way to help young children. It isn’t like we are providing a ton of gourmet, organice coffee, but it is a START…kinda like the kid who was running up and down the beach tossing star fish back into the sea. One of his buddies yelled out “you can save them all”!. The young lad picked up one star fish and tossed it into the sea and yelled back: “but I can save this one”!

From our time working in urban areas both in Mexico, Rwanda, Peru, and Pittsburgh to rural areas like Boone, NC., we know that we can’t help everyone, but we like to think we can at least try. So, if you don’t have much to do, find $6.00 and go eat some pancakes and help raise some money that will go to a great cause!
