Store back online

Thanks for your patience while we made sure that everything was secure on the ole store front. While I am thinking about it, we just got two coffees in that are just stinkin-good: An organic Costa Rican from the Tarrazu region and an amazing Natural Processed Ethiopian. Both amazing, in their own palette pleasing way.
Also, do me a favor and tell someone about our economic stimulus package: two pounds of fresh roasted coffee for $24.00 shipped for free…thats real change that stays in your pocket!

Coffee delivery bike has landed!
July 13, 2010 by baldguy · Leave a Comment
Well, here we go…today marks the beginning of an idea, or better yet, a dream, coming into fruition.
A while back, I started delivering coffee into town on a tricked out Giant Cargo Bike that I purchased from my buddy over at Magic Cycles. The purpose for this was simple: get in shape, reduce our carbon footprint, and train for a pretty ridiculous ride carrying lots of coffee.
During the course of a year another idea began to “percolate” and kinda made sense: Ride a bike from Atlanta, GA to Boone, NC carrying a sack of green Rwandan Coffee to raise awareness and money for Rwandan coffee farmers. However, I needed a bike that would handle over 300lbs to cover 300 miles with wee bit of a climb at the end (approx 1800 feet).
Anyway, I don’t want to “spill the beans” just yet…so getcha a cup of joe, kick back, and check in regularly for updates, videos and pics. Oh yeah, here is a link to the original blog post and a more recent overview of Beans for Bikes and Project Rwanda.

I realized that the link to read about what others are saying about our freshly roasted gourmet coffee and customer service was broken, so here it is in case you are thinking about ordering.

The good people over at Footsloggers threw us a bone on their new site. Check it out and make sure you give Jason a shout when you are on that side of the world!

Website back up

You might have noticed that we decided to take a little vacation from cyberspace during the last week. I’m sorry for the inconvenience…we had some serious hardware malfunctions on the server. Good news is you can order coffee online again. However, I have to say I’m going to miss the personal interaction as I have enjoyed speaking with so many of you over the phone to take your orders.
I did learn a thing or two during our down time about the site: First, I didn’t realize how important the site is for folks, but the myriad of calls indicated otherwise. Second, I realized how I need to do a better job of focusing more of my time writing. It was odd, but when I couldn’t blog, I had all of these great ideas I wanted to write about. Hopefully, I can carve out some quality time to keep everyone informed of whats happening.
Cheers,
Bald Guy.

Closed until we have power!

Well, the ice storm that hit Boone, NC has just wreaked havoc for most of the county. At last count, 44% of the county is without power…including the Bald Guy Brew International Head-Quarters. Not sure when we will be operational, especially since a smaller snow storm is due to hit on Sunday.
If you order coffee, it might be delayed, but I’ll get to it when I can. In the mean time, we hope that ya’ll have a wonderful holiday!

Pancakes, BGB, and a great cause to do good!

This coming Saturday (12-12-09) between 7:30 to 11:30 am, the Watauga Education Foundation will be holding a pancake breakfast and raffle to provide classroom grants for creative initiatives that fall outside the state and local budgets, funds continuing education for teachers, funds Battle of the Books, produces Shooting Stars and is bringing Imagination Library—a program to get books into children’s hands even before they can read—for Watauga County Schools.
From the beginning we (Bald Guy and Mrs. Bald Guy) have always found a way to help young children. It isn’t like we are providing a ton of gourmet, organice coffee, but it is a START…kinda like the kid who was running up and down the beach tossing star fish back into the sea. One of his buddies yelled out “you can save them all”!. The young lad picked up one star fish and tossed it into the sea and yelled back: “but I can save this one”!
From our time working in urban areas both in Mexico, Rwanda, Peru, and Pittsburgh to rural areas like Boone, NC., we know that we can’t help everyone, but we like to think we can at least try. So, if you don’t have much to do, find $6.00 and go eat some pancakes and help raise some money that will go to a great cause!
