Beans 4 Bikes

Recently, I began delivering coffee into town from our International Head-Quarters (see blog post here) after reading about Rwandan Coffee farmers.   Pushing wooden bikes laden with massive amounts of coffee, the farmers trek to the processor through the hills of Rwanda after working all day picking coffee.

Call me crazy, but I came up with a simple plan:  ride a bike to deliver roasted coffee and raise money to help Rwandan coffee farmers buy bikes.  So, off I pedaled into town with a trailer of coffee, and “Beans for Bikes” was born.   I needed a little exercise, and this seemed like a great way to live into our goals of being a socially responsible and eco-friendly business.

Mrs. Bald Guy and I both feel that, with “Beans for Bikes”, we hit a home run…helping coffee farmers, reducing our carbon footprint, and burning a few calories to boot!  So, sit back and check out this amazing video from SPREAD entitled “Changing Gears, Changing Lives” for a great overview on what we are plugging into.
